I first heard of GoGo Quinoa when I was opening my January Little Life Box. At the time I was just starting to get involved with completely converting my lifestyle into a healthy one, and quinoa was never really part of my meal plans. To be honest, I didn’t even really know what quinoa is, but GoGo Quinoa gives a good description:
Quinoa, an ancient “pseudo-grain”, was consumed by the Incas. Now in high demand for its multiple health benefits, quinoa is known for its perfectly balanced contend in fiber, carbohydrates and complete plant-based protein. The grains can be either white, red or black. The nutritional value is hardly different: no matter what color, quinoa is a superfood everyone will enjoy!
Quinoa is packed with nutrition and contains a slew of health benefits. It contains two flavonoids, quercetin and kaempferol, which have anti-viral, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory and anti-depressant effects which have all been found in animal studies. Quinoa is also very high in fibre and is gluten-free, high in protein and contains all of the essential amino acids that us humans need to survive.
We are committed to providing you with a variety of delicious and nutritious quinoa products of the highest quality. It is for that reason that we are the first Canadian company to ensure local quinoa quality control, in our factory based in Saint-Laurent.
Our specialized Andean grain cleaning machinery line allows us to reduce the level of saponin, a bitter substance coating each grain and acting as a natural insecticide, to less than 0.01% and to remove any impurities such as volcanic rocks and straw to offer you a safe and pure product that only contains the best tasting quinoa.
GoGo Quinoa started when the founder sought out to get quinoa as certified Fair Trade in North America. The company started in 2004 and grew into a successful 20,000 square foot facility that incorporates locally sourced ingredients with organic, vegan and gluten-free options. You can actually read and understand the ingredients; as they are healthy, nutritious and safe for those with allergies.
These products were sent to livelaughblog for an honest review.
I was sent the following different kinds of flakes to try. The amazing thing is that all of these flakes are healthy substitutes that can be used in products like muffins, cereal, smoothies, patties, etc. Costing no more than $6.00/ box, these organic, healthy flakes are completely worth your buck.
Amaranth, a small seed rich in protein and calcium, can act as a binding and thickening agent. This nutritious superfood is a great addition to any salad, and its unique texture works wonderfully in soups.
I only had the chance to try one of these kinds of flakes so I decided to go with Amaranth, as I never have tried it before. I had never even heard of Amaranth before receiving this lovely packaged box from GoGo Quinoa. The certifications on the bottom speak for itself, this product is packed with nutrition, gluten-free, non-GMO, organic and peanut free. I added this to some of my homemade protein bars as a substitute for the usual oats that I add to protein bars. The taste is a little stronger but adds an amazing source of protein and calcium to anything you eat.
Make breakfast quick and simple with this pancake mix the whole family will love! This gluten free alternative allows you to make a variety of breakfast classics, such as pancakes, crèpes and even waffles!
This delicious and healthy pancake mix is a great source of iron and is cholesterol free. I like to add dark chocolate chips or fresh strawberries to my pancakes!
GoGo Quinoa was also quite generous with their pasta. I’m a huge sucker for this delicious Italian dish, so I was super excited to test out my cooking skills with this amazingly healthy pasta.
Discover our selection of premium quality gluten free pasta! Our fusilli is made with organic white rice and quinoa flour and offers the same lovely ‘al dente’ texture as wheat pasta.
I only had the chance to try one of these types of pasta so I went with Fusilli. I know that all pasta tastes the same but for some reason I’ve always preferred the spiral pasta over everything else. This pasta is only made with organic white rice flour and organic quinoa flour. It is also vegan, gluten free and packed full of iron.
The dish I decided to make doesn’t really have a formal name, it’s just my favourite vegetarian pasta all mixed together with organic Alfredo Sauce. Let’s call it Fusilli Vegetable Alfredo.
Fusilli Vegetable Alfredo
The first step of this recipe is to cut up the vegetables. I laid the mushrooms down on a thin layer of extra virgin olive oil and coated with a spicy pepper blend. I then added diced white onions, green onions and minced garlic. Cooking this on medium heat, I added the Fusilli to 3-4 liters of waters and stirred regularly. I followed the instructions which stated that in order to get regular texture pasta, to allow 8-10 minutes to cook. This time was dead on accurate, and I drained the pasta with cold water.
I took an additional few minutes to add my veggies to the Alfredo sauce and simmer it nicely. Once ready, I poured the sauce over the pasta and stirred it around. You wouldn’t know this pasta was organic as it tastes just like regular pasta, except WAY healthier for you and delicious to eat. Cooking is super easy and if you follow the instructions, you will have succeeded with a delicious pasta dish!
You honestly can’t go wrong with delicious, organic, gluten-free and vegan products that are healthy substitutes for the unhealthy products you can cheaply buy in stores. GoGo Quinoa supplies very affordable, healthy products that can be used from breakfast to dinner to late night snacks- but all HEALTHY!
