Canadian Originals ‘Canada 150’ July 2017 Artisan Box Review

Canadian Originals is a brand new monthly lifestyle box showcasing handmade, artisan Canadian goods. They are a family owned business based in Oakville, ON.

How it Works

The box is sent on an annual basis and includes surprises delivered monthly for an entire year filled with handpicked items made by talented Canadian artisans.

Each box comes complete with monthly gourmet finds, unique accessories and jewelry, luxurious beauty products and original home décor pieces, some created exclusively for Canadian Originals. They will also offer limited edition holiday boxes throughout the year, so make sure to keep an eye out for that!

The box costs $55.00/ month with options to purchase 3, 6 or 12 month subscriptions in order to receive a larger discount at each level.

June 2017 Debut Box

This box was kindly sent to livelaughblog for an honest review.

I love the theme of this box already! Since Canada is turning 150 on July 1st, the very first box from Canadian Originals has a Canada Day theme to celebrate.

Hidden Gems by Raquel Maple Leaf Necklace

Handmade Y necklace. Exclusive Canadian Originals design.

This necklace is beautiful and faithfully encompasses Canadian symbolism all on a small gold chain. I love the delicacy of how it was wrapped in a pretty white paper bag and further protected by tissue paper with the ‘open me’ sticker.

Huge & Nate Confections Artisan French Caramels

Made one small batch at a time with nothing more than a copper pot and a wooden spoon, each caramel is two bites of buttery bliss.

These buttery caramels are melt-in-your-mouth delicious, the taste of sea salt mixed with gooey caramel is mouth watering good!

Canadian Mint Anniversary Edition Quarter

I thought including a 50 cent coin, which does not exist in Canada anymore, was one of the best ideas for a subscription box exclusive to Canadians. I grew up an avid Canadian coin collector and it’s always great to add more to that collection! Great idea Canadian Originals!

Giclee Canada Map Watercolor Print: Andrea Hill

5″x7″ watercolour map. Exclusive Canadian Originals design.

I love that this lovely watercolour drawing of Canada was drawn exclusively for the Canadian Originals box. What a lovely keepsake to have to remember Canada’s 150th birthday!

Carberry Soap Company: Sweet Pea

Pamper yourself with our handmade Gourmet Soap. These bars are made with love in our Soap Kitchen with specially selected natural ingredients and are full of wholesome goodness. No need to wait for a special occasion, these soaps are gentle enough to use everyday and have soothing ingredients to nourish rough, dry skin.

Handmade soap is a staple in an artisan subscription box. I love the rainbow colours and the scent of this soap: sweet pea!

9senses Beeswax Aromatherapy Candle: Sensual

Aromatherapy is the practice of using the natural oils extracted from flowers, bark, stems, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant to enhance psychological and physical well-being. The inhaled aroma from these “essential” oils is widely believed to stimulate brain function.

Homemade candles are another essential item in subscription boxes. I am obsessed with natural candles, especially beeswax candles, to the point where I actually save the beeswax to burn again in the future or to make my own products. The lovely scent of this candle reminds me of a woodsy- spicyness, I love it!

Home Wall Decor: Kylee’s Keepsakes

Rustic 10″ x 7″ hand painted wood sign. Exclusive Canadian Originals design.

Again, another item made exclusively for Canadian Originals. I love it! This sign is beautiful and would look lovely in any Canadian home. I love the rustic appearance of this handmade sign, it would really look good anywhere in my house!

Final Thoughts

I LOVE artisan subscription boxes. I love supporting local businesses, especially ones that are so close to my home! Opening a box like this is an experience that I share with my family and friends as we all enjoy the products together and really appreciate the Canadian theme, especially with Canada’s 150th birthday right around the corner. Keep in mind this was Canadian Original’s VERY first box- quite impressive for a debut subscription service! It’s exciting to see what artisans they are supporting and what new items will be appearing in each monthly box. Great job, Canadian Originals!
