As May is coming to an end, so are the contents of many of my lovely locally made skincare products. One in particular that I have been using since December (very rationally I might add) has finally come to an end. Here is a complete review of my skincare changes from December until now, using the amazing Studio Aroma Lemongrass Walnut Scrub twice a week.
Our philosophy at Studio Aroma is to invoke awareness holistically on your body, mind and soul to restore the natural balance in you.
Studio Aroma is a modern aromatic apothecary company providing body care and lifestyle items that are focused on healing and containing natural properties.
This revitalizing body scrub with refined texture that improves skin vibrancy and your senses with polishing walnut shell powder and a light, refreshing essential oil blend of lemongrass, mimosa, and litsea. Botanically derived cleansing agents of algae and rice extracts, also help delivers perceivable firming properties as well as substantive hydration and moisturizing benefits.
I wanted to really give this product a hard shot before I reviewed it because I’m aware that many body and facial scrubs can have an instant effect but then not work as well in the days and weeks after. I used it for roughly 5 months, about 2-3 times weekly with other facial cleanser and moisturizer products.
Ingredients: Fine Walnut Shell powder, Jojoba Seeds, Aritha Powder, Sweet Almond Oil, E.O. ( Lemongrass, Gernium, Mimosa, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang, Listea Cubea, Vetiver), Meadowsweet Extract
Price: This product goes for $12.00 on the Studio Aroma website. I did not purchase this product on its own as I received it in my Elle Box monthly subscription box. Compared to industry standards for scrubs (especially natural, homemade scrubs), this price is relatively cheap for a good facial scrub.
Packaging: This product comes packages in a small, easy to open cylinder container. I like the simple essence of this container with a white label containing just the product and company name and the ingredient list on the back. The only critique I would have is to include directions or steps of how to apply. Other than that, I was very pleased with the packaging.
Scent: This lemongrass walnut scrub brings out an overwhelmingly amazing scent. You can also taste the pine/forest-y scent combined with compliments of lemon. I would say it’s mostly woodsy.
Texture: I am IN LOVE with how this scrub feels and how it is applied to the face and body. It feels almost like wet coffee grounds. Once applied to the face, it spreads easy and is soft enough so that the grainy sensation doesn’t hurt, but feels great to the face instead.
Usage: This container is 50g; which for those who know their beauty product knowledge, isn’t an excessive amount of product. However, the great feature about this product is that you really don’t need much at all. Just a dab of your finger into the container should do the trick, and you can add water to spread it on the rougher areas of your body that need it.
Result: Immediately after washing off the scrub and dabbing my face with a towel to dry off the water, my skin was noticeably softer to the touch. Once applied and spread across the face, the scrub turns into a brown coffee colour. I felt like my skin tone was more evened-out and my dead skin cells had been washed off. I noticed this consistency the next day and evening as well. After using a couple of times each week, I would start to scrub it on the bottoms of my feet, my knees, elbow and neck. I have noticed my skin has been brighter, softer and generally has that ‘clean’ feeling that I was never able to accomplish before.
