Date Mail is a monthly subscription service that delivers a full date night experience to your door step every month. It was started by a Canadian event coordinator who was trying to find ways to come up with unique date night experiences.
Here’s what you can count on:
Our Specialty: Delivering an EXPERIENCE. We think ‘inside’ the box to ensure we live up to the promise of delivering you and your partner a memorable date night (or day!).
It’s a mini version of our box that arrives in an envelope, hence the name ‘Date-velope’! An extremely budget friendly way to check us out, this love letter is quite literally a date night tease!
Want to see what this is all about but not ready to jump into a serious relationship with us? That’s ok, we’ll mail you one box at a time until you’re sure you would like a subscription & as a thanks for your first order with us, we will also send you a complimentary Date-velope, which is a $25.00 value
Going Steady: (3 Months, $135.00)
Want to take a chance & hang out a little more often? Let us send you 3 MONTHS worth of dates and as a thank you, we’ll include a Date-velope ($25.00 value), which is a mini-version of a date box.
Getting Steamy: (6 Month, $240.00)
We love you. You love us. The mail man (or lady) is your best friend by now, so ya, things are getting steamy by now! We’re sending you 6 MONTHS worth of dates and you’re going to get all kinds of special surprises along the way including 2 free Date-velopes ($50.00 value). Let’s have FUN!
This box was kindly sent to me for review purposes. I was sent the monthly box with a chocolate theme!
Open This First
On the bottom of the box there is a sticker that says: “Open the envelope on the reverse side of this box FIRST & BEFORE your date night!” I really enjoyed this mystery element of being led to a different part of the box instead of directly opening it. Inside the envelope is a Chocolate Themed Recipe and some chocolate/alcohol pairing suggestions. I thought this was a good start to opening the box, as alcohol is usually a pretty dominant part of a date night. I love doing pairings with food and alcohol so I thought this would be a fun idea, the only problem being we didn’t know which alcohol we should purchase that would go best with everything. However, this was still a great little guide and was very informative.
Love Maps Quiz
The next item I found was the Love Maps 20 Questions Game. As the owner of this company has stated on the website, one of the keys to a successful relationship is to never stop dating one another. These trivia questions are great for reconnecting and learning things about your partner you may have not already known. The list is comprised of 60 questions, and if your partner answers correctly they receive a point.
There were more cards included for trivia purposes, which include questions about chocolate for your partner and yourself to quiz each other on.
Wicked Aqua Mocha Java Lubricant
Kissable, lickable, and delicious. Wicked’s flavored lube adds subtle natural flavors to enhance oral pleasures. Light and silky, this water-based formula is the perfect sensual combination of an elegant lubricant and a flavor sensation. Never sticky and without an aftertaste, Aqua Mocha Java satisfies your sweet tooth and your intimate desires all in one amazing pleasure product. This latex-friendly, paraben-free formula is sweetened with Stevia.
This is always fun to receive! I also liked that this was made without parabens or latex.
Chocolate Fondue & Body Tic Tac Toe
The box came with a bag of chocolate for fondue purposes. I don’t have a fondue pot, but the box suggested utilizing the microwave if this was the case. Pringles Honey Butter sticks were to be used to dip in the fondue, since they couldn’t send fresh fruit. They suggest that the chocolate can also be used for body Tic-Tac-Toe and include a paintbrush for that purpose.
A ‘teamwork game’ is included where partners place a piece of chocolate between their teeth and pass it between each other until it’s gone..
Chocolate Rhassoul Masks
These chocolate rhassoul masks are a relaxing way to pamper each other and enjoy trying something new. This was way out of my BF’s comfort zone so we didn’t do this together, but I will likely be using the masks on myself!
The Roll & Sip
I thought this was a really good idea, Date Mail included a bag of white chocolate chips to be melted on a plate and used to rim the edge of your wine glass. It’s recommended with white wine which was a shame as we only had red wine, but nonetheless it was a genius idea!
The box lastly came with 2 double sided ‘love notes’ in order to encourage writing positive things about each other and things you love about your partner.
The idea behind a ‘date night’ box is so smart. I’ve always believed in the need for couples to take time out of their busy lives and learn to reconnect through going out or partaking in date nights inside. You don’t have to go out or spend a lot of money to have fun together and re-ignite the spark. That’s why I really do love the concept of this box; it’s the little things that can bring couples together and have a good time just being silly with one another.
The intention and the passion to bring this box to couple’s door steps is certainly there, but I do think it’s slightly pricey for what you get. I loved the cards and the information telling me what was inside the box, as I usually find there is a lack of information in many boxes. I did find myself at one point wondering which pamphlet was which, so cutting down the information slightly might help.
The products were great quality and the ideas were awesome and very creative. I especially loved the idea to use the white chocolate as a rim for wine or other alcoholic beverages- I would never have thought of that myself. I think this box shows wonderful effort for it only being Date Mail’s second box.
