Testing out products and watching the effect they have is one of my favourite parts of being a lifestyle blogger. I love the ability to show others how sticking to green beauty products can have such a profound effect on your skin, and on your life in general.
I was never really one for night creams, I would do my typical cleanser/exfoliator/sometimes face mask/moisturizer routine and then call it a night. I began to research the benefits of using night creams, and I realized that I always been ignorant of so many of the good reasons I should have been using one all along.
Night Creams are Beneficial because:
- they help clarify and replenish skin
- they are great for anti-aging properties
- your skin absorbs the most nutrients at night when you’re asleep, so the properties of night creams can provide those essential nutrients
- they help fight wrinkles and fine lines
- they moisturize and help keep the skin soft
I was using Arbonne’s RE9 Anti-Aging Skincare Line for a while, including their Replenishing Night Cream as my last step after the first 4. I received Derma E’s Hydrating Night Cream in my Yogi Surprise January Subscription Box and decided to give this new night cream a try for a while. One thing about me is I like switching up my skincare routine and trying new products-you never know what you’ll find by trying new things!
Derma E Hydrating Night Cream
Why is this night cream so significant? Let’s start with the fact that it is 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral oil-free, lanolin-free, gluten free, GMO-free. It is chalk-full of anti-aging antioxidants and tons of vitamins (including Vitamin C & E). The formula provides ultimate protection against the damaging toxins and pollutants that exist in the air we breathe and the general effects of the environment.
The reviews are also stellar- receiving no lower than a 4.5/5 on most websites and people raving about the hydrating properties and ability of this product to help with anti-aging.
Purified Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid; Actimoist® Bio-1), Ascorbyl Palmitate (C-Ester), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Panthenol (Provitamin B5), Allantoin, Organic Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract* (.1%), Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract* (.1%), Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Xanthan Gum, Ammonium Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer (Aristoflex®), Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Plumeria Blossom Fragrance.
It’s worth pointing out that some people were disappointed with the last ingredient, the Plumeria Blosson Fragrance considering putting artificial fragrance into a night cream that seems to be free of everything else is an odd move. I am not entirely clear but it seems Plumeria Blossom Fragrance is derived from essential oils and is also paraben-free, preservative free, gluten-free, nickel-free and anti-biotic free. This still is a fragrance itself, therefore if you are looking for products with no fragrances this may not be the one for you.
I started using this night cream on a semi-regular basis; I would say a few times a week. When I start using a new product, I like to allow my skin to get used to it so I typically ease into it. Once I decide I love a product, I will use it on a daily basis and likely eventually make a purchase.
I started doing trials-comparing nights that I used the cream versus nights that I didn’t. I also took notice of what other products I was using along with the night cream. I noticed that my skin would glow more, and my skin looked less dry; but this wouldn’t last as long as I hoped.
I decided to up my intake of the night cream and use it on a nightly basis after a few weeks of dipping my toes in the water.
After nightly usage, my skin was completely hydrated. The colour of my face also changed (picture pale with blemishes) into a radiant almost tanned-like glow. I researched this and apparently products that don’t have damaging chemicals, parabens, or other added preservatives actually bring out your natural skin tone because your skin is finally breathing instead of suffocating under chemicals.
I’m in my mid twenties so I’m (hopefully) still some years away from wrinkles and fine lines but my skin did appear to be very soft, smooth, and completely line-free. My skin has always been RED- like tomato-stricken, fire hot red because of my blemishes and acne. This product deteriorated my blemishes and my redness and brought out the natural glow of my skin.
I was concerned initially that this product had Plumeria Blossom Fragrance as their last ingredient. I do try to avoid purchasing products with Fragrance but considering this product seems to be free of so many other chemicals, I decided it was worth my buck.
This product lacks a point because of the fragrance. Besides that, I am in awe of what this night cream has done for my skin. I’m not sure if I will make another purchase in the future, but I’m thrilled with the results I have seen so far.
