Tea & Candles

If someone asked you to pick one thing in this entire universe that puts you in your happy place, what would that be?

For some people, its their dog, their favourite television show, their car, their significant other. Not to say that my sig. other doesn’t put me there (I hope he’s not reading this) but sometimes you just need an item or a product that will calm you down and remind you why life’s not so bad.

For me, that something is tea and candles.

I never was a tea fanatic until I tried loose leaf tea. There was something so different about it as opposed to tea bags that are store-bought; the taste was just more pure. I became obsessed with minty teas as I found them completely soothing and they were able to calm me down after a long day like nothing else could. I also became quite obsessed with researching and sampling loose leaf tea (read about it Here), and I discovered the health benefits as opposed to drinking tea from a box. It’s also super easy to become addicted to tea once loved ones become aware of your obsession, and give you nothing but David’s Tea gift cards for special occasions (NOT complaining)!

It then came to my discovery that putting my feet up, sipping on some hot tea, and having a candle burning in the background is probably among the most soothing activities.

Again, I was never a candle person either until I was over at a friend’s place and noticed how calming the atmosphere was from the display of at least 5 candles she had burning. At this point I was crazily obsessing over trying new subscription boxes and there came a point when I received about 4 candles in different subscription boxes at the same time! My boyfriend and I started making it a point to go into home décor stores only to shop for candles. We discovered our mutual love for the relaxing glow of the candle light while unwinding and watching our favourite shows.

As my obsession with growing my happy place continues, AKA searching for more candles and tea that make me feel ultimately calm, I’ve chosen my favourite tea and candle products for February:

February Faves:

Candle

Sealuxe Westcoast 6 oz. Cedar+Pine+Birch Candle

I received this extremely authentic candle in my February Ellebox. I love love LOVE the scratched up container that makes the jar look super old and rustic. The candle smells like you’re standing in a forest surrounded by the cedar, pine and birch trees that the candle encompasses. It’s an absolutely wonderful scent and even fills up my room while its not being burned.

Tea:

Yogi  Soothing Rose Hibiscus Skin Detox Tea

Wow, do I ever LOVE the Yogi brand teas. I’ve already tried the Relaxed Mind Tranquility tea which was the most calming tea I’ve ever drank, and I absolutely loved this Skin Detox Rose Hibiscus tea. I realize that Yogi isn’t exactly loose leaf tea, but the quality standards for Yogi are as follows:

We source only the highest quality herbs and botanicals from around the globe. We are extremely selective with our suppliers, and only work with those who can document that they follow the National Organic Program (NOP) for all ingredients we procure from them. According to the standards set forth by the NOP, we do not accept any raw ingredients contaminated by GMOs, sewer sludge, ionizing radiation, or artificial ingredients.

I received this tea in my Orglamix subscription box and loved the flavor, as well as how soothing it felt. This tea is also caffeinated so drink with caution if you’re looking for something to drink before bed!
