If you’re anything like me, cooking is certainly enjoyable but it’s very time consuming. I’m already a very picky person, so picking out the right ingredients and recipes to make that perfect dish definitely has its obstacles (especially coming home late from work on a weekday and not knowing what to make).
I started to hear about companies that delivered fresh food right to your door- and I had my skepticism. Would the food really be that fresh? Was it worth the price just to skip the trip to the grocery store? I heard of a Canadian company called Miss Fresh that delivered fresh ingredients right to your door. I had never participated in this kind of food service before so I figured what the heck-it was worth a try. This box was sent to me for review purposes.
Miss Fresh: The Company

Local and seasonal products
The box arrived at my door cushioned by giant ice packs. The food was able to conveniently and neatly be unpacked and transferred directly to my fridge. I wasn’t home to receive the box but my mom sure was surprised when a giant carton of fresh ingredients showed up at our door!
The price depends of course on what kind of box you are looking for. If you are just looking to feed yourself, let’s say 3 meals (you would get 2 portions of each recipe which would account for pretty much the entire week), this would cost about $65.94/week. Of course this changes whether you want a vegetarian option, if you have more mouths to feed, etc. If you think about how much you spend at the grocery store weekly, this is actually a really good price. You get everything sent right to your door, pre-planned, pre-packaged, and completely fresh.
I was astounded by the organization and quality of the recipes. There were neat little pictures on the back of each recipe card showcasing exactly what steps were needed to make the food. My favourite part was the fact that I didn’t have to measure anything; the ingredients are provided to you in the exact quantity and measurements that you will need them. To me, this is HUGE because I hate measuring and worrying about whether or not I put the right amount of ingredients into my food.
I have never tried salmon tacos, let alone fish tacos before because I have been weary of how fish in a taco might taste. Let me tell you, I am a completely changed person now that I’ve tried salmon tacos. The ingredients complimented each other so well, my family and I kept commenting on the surplus of flavours we could taste and how amazing they all worked together. The salmon tacos contained salmon (duh), red onions, corn, fresh cilantro, lime, greek yogurt and avocados. They were absolutely DELICIOUS. The three of us split 6 tacos and they were gone in minutes.
Eggplant, Spinach and Tomato Curry:
Again, another dish that I had never really tried but was THRILLED to give a tasting to. The flavours complimented each other so well, and even though the dish is meant to be spicy, the coconut milk simmered down the spice; making this meal suitable for anyone: This dish contained: eggplant, tomatoes, spinach, curry, coconut milk, garlic, rice, ginger, onions and coriander. It was the perfect meal and I was able to pack up some leftovers to bring to work the next day.
I also received a Honey Mustard and Dill Pork dish that was just astounding, however I have no available photos.
I am so happy that Miss Fresh introduced me to the world of home delivered fresh food. I loved having the ability to make the food at my own discretion but still have a step-by-step guide showing me exactly what to do. I was also able to save most of the portions and eat them for future lunches or dinners, which is a huge bonus when you’re busy and don’t have time to make anything. The ingredients are extremely fresh, labelled, and already portioned so you don’t have to worry about measuring. I was so thrilled with my box, even if you just want to try it out for a week, it’s 100% worth your money.
