Calm Box- December Unboxing!

I got my Calm Box in the mail a couple of days ago and this is definitely one of those niche boxes that I consider essential every month. I regard myself as a decently calm individual but there are definitely times when I let certain situations get the best of me, and I get extremely stressed and anxious in return.

The Calm Box provides a themed subscription box with products to help ease the mind and soul, usually including some variation of tea, candles and an activity or item to help calm you down.

It costs $35.00/ month with free shipping if you live in The USA. I live in Canada, so my box adds $15.00 shipping plus USD, working out to about $60.00/month. This honestly is a lot if you’re living paycheck to paycheck so definitely think about it before you make the purchase. I will honestly say though that this box does come with high quality items that are guaranteed to provide relaxation and calmness. The box also comes with a product card with a picture of each item, explaining what they are and how to use them. The December box also came with a ‘Happy Holidays’ card, which I thought was a really nice touch.

  • Triloka Premium Incense

One of my favourite items that I use ALL the time are incense sticks. You burn them on a special stand that you can buy from any home store or even the dollar store for a good price, and they last for about 30-50 minutes depending on the length. This brand is Triloka and they are a ‘lotus champa’, smelling like a soft sandalwood. The package comes with 10 so you could make this last for definitely a couple of weeks to a month or so.

Next up are the two items related to promoting a calm atmosphere. The first is a 50 minute CD composed by Kevin MacLeod. I’m all for classical music CDs that emit relaxing sounds throughout the house when I’ve had a rough day. Make some tea, put your feet up, and relax to the sounds of a peaceful evening.

The ‘Big Calm’ cards by Lisa Esile are probably among my favourite items of the box. The concept is that whenever you are feeling down in the dumps or need a pick-me-up of some sort, shuffle the cards and pick a random one out, then read the message on it to feel better. Do this until the positive messages have made you feel a little better about your day.

Next are these deliciously wonderful Trujoy Organic Original Fruit Chews. I LOOOOVEEEEE candy to the point where I walk to the closest convenient store on a rainy and windy day just to purchase Jolly Ranchers or some type of fruit chew. I love when these boxes include some type of organic sweet because not only do I feel better about eating sugar, but they are absolutely DELICIOUS. These chews (which I have already opened because I couldn’t resist) come in orange, lemon, strawberry and cherry flavours and you wouldn’t know that they have no artificial colours, flavours or corn syrup. SO GOOD.

Lastly we have the wonderful bits of tea, soap and candles that can help make anyone feel relaxed. I adore tea and trying new teas, and although I haven’t tried these teas yet I have heard great things about the brand Traditional Medicinals and definitely could use these before settling in and going to bed. They are an organic herbal tea meant to relax the mind and the muscles before a good night’s rest.

The candles are from Chakra Energy Votive and seem to be associated with two of our chakras. I’m not completely familiar with the chakra’s yet so I’m not going to act like I know everything about them, but I believe the blue candle represents the throat chakra (I could be wrong). They both smell radiant by the way and I can’t wait to burn these babies by a relaxing bath!

Lastly is Hugo Naturals Soap, which is handcrafted, organic and smells so strong of lavender you will never want to stop smelling it. I love anything organic and knowing that you are cleaning yourself with organic soap as opposed to something made with chemicals and who knows what else makes me feel a lot better about what I’m putting onto my skin.

I was definitely pleased with this month’s calm box. Like I said above, $60.00 Canadian is a little pricey for a subscription box in my opinion but when it comes down to it, you are getting quality products that are made from small businesses and mostly, if not all of the products, are organic and all-natural. I also must give their customer service a shoutout as I had two inquiries on two different days and they answered me back with an informative response within hours. They were very helpful, and I know a lot of companies just want your credit card information so they can keep charging you monthly without providing stellar customer service when you have concerns about your subscription. Calm Box is the opposite, they are very helpful and willing to provide as much assistance as possible.

Two thumbs up for sure!
