VRS: Arbonne vrs Lush in MASKS!

Each week I’m going to put two similar products from different companies up against each other and pick a winner! I LOVE trying new skincare products, and I’m always up for going for new brands that I’ve never heard of or even products that seem odd to me.

This week just so happens to be Arbonne versus Lush, two of the most popular skincare brands for many different reasons. Let’s start with the basics..

Arbonne’s tagline alone is ‘pure, safe, beneficial’; so they promise consumers that the products they are receiving are chalk full of healthy and premium botanical ingredients that also promotes living a vegan lifestyle with products that are never tested on animals. I’ll be honest, I heard of Arbonne for the first time last year and I had to take a product home and test it for a week to be sure it was what I wanted for my skin. I tried the RE9 line which is intended to reduce fine lines and wrinkles (I’m in my early twenties so I wasn’t really looking to reduce anything, I just wanted to give their best product a try). I was very pleasantly surprised at the radiant glow my skin had the next day after usage; it was as if my natural colours of my face were being brought to the ‘front’ of my skin.

Lush was kind of the same deal for me, I didn’t know the company existed until I started to hear all about this natural company that hand-made products all over social media. Videos and photos of bath bombs became a natural occurrence to see plastered all over my timeline. Lush has a similar concept to Arbonne; all safe, no-preservative, vegan products that aren’t animal tested. The store (similar to Arbonne) smells absolutely amazing and the beautiful display honestly makes you want to buy something instantly.

For the purposes of this review, I decided to pick my favourite facial masks from each company. To put two products up against each other from two amazing companies and pick a winner is definitely difficult as both have such amazing perks, but I was able to settle on a favourite. Let’s explore, shall we?

  1. Arbonne Seasource Detox Spa Sea Mud Face & Body Mask

The first thing that sets this product aside from others is that you can use it for both a face and body mask. To be honest, I’ve only used it as a face mask so I don’t know the effect it has on the body. It pretty much smells like you’re rubbing the ocean on your face. It comes out in a dark green colour, and I find its velocity is one of my favourite things about it. I find many masks to be too thick and difficult to put on your face and to take off, but this mask is the perfect not-too-thick, not-too-thin combination. It sits on your face for 10-15 minutes, and then you can wash it off. I take it off with a washcloth and the other wonderful thing about this product is how EASY it is to be wiped off. I literally have never experienced a better mask in terms of how nice and quick it washes off the face. I use this mask once a week and I feel elated every time I take it off, like my pores have been cleaned out and the dirt has been zapped off my face completely. It also doesn’t leave your skin as dry as many other face masks out there do

2. Lush Mask of Magnaminty Face and Body Mask

Next up, we have this wonderful face and body mask from Lush Cosmetics. It too is intended for use on both the body and face, so bonus points for that (again, I have only tried it on my face). The jar comes with a sticker that tells you who made the product, when it was made and when it expires. I find this information really valuable because as a consumer, I want to know how long my product has been sitting around before I apply it to my skin. It has a much thicker consistency which I don’t mind in a face mask, but my personal preference is a face mask that does not feel TOO thick on the skin. The smell of this mask is UNREAL. As soon as you open the jar you are blessed with this heavenly minty scent, you literally want to lick the jar clean. You leave it on your face for about 10-15 minutes and wash it off in circular movements. The only flaw with taking this mask off is that it takes a little too long I found. The mask is so thick that you spend about double the time trying to remove it and hit every spot than you do putting it on. It definitely leaves your skin feeling rejuvenated and clean, with an UNBELIEVABLE smell to boot. I did find that my skin felt a little dry after removing this, but nothing that a little moisturizer can’t fix.

After using both masks and going over the good and bad points of both, let’s see who the winner is:
